Hehe, as Ruler, it is totally right to smack those who disrespect you or your people.
Be it only a symbolical tiny hit or the right word at the right time.

Shion's hissy fit was HILARIOUS! :> she is kinda acting like Rimuru's mistress and work-wife whining because Rimuru is taking his public wife Shuna along on 'the business trip' instead of her. :D

during the ride to Dwargon in the carriage i noticed something. i guess Rimuru really has gotten used to snuggling up underneath those two luscious assets of Shion's as he rests in her lap. he's just casually wearing em like a fleshy hat every-time Shion carries him around in slime-form. plus, she's imminently comfortable resting those chesticles upon him and isn't embarrassed whatsoever. ;9 i've always thought ladies with ample bustlines were generally self-aware of 'them' and how a guy might react to a little too 'friendly' of a contact between 'him' and 'them'. ;9 perhaps Rimuru and Shion have reached that 'coupling' stage where they just casually publicly demonstrate 'intimate contact' normally left for 'those moments'? ;9

Rimuru is genderless, so they probably don't register him as a man tbh

LesK • 1 week ago

ehhh hmm... uhhh... well... i've had this Rimuru 'gender' discussion more than once over the past years since S1 came out.

he was QUITE happy with the elf girls at the hostess bar back in S1. then there was his death scene after the stabbing... i do believe he died a V... the old joke about 30 years (he is 37 y/o when he died) as a V makes you a wizard popped up there and 'The Words of the World' interpreted that as 'Sage' and he went on to say something... i forget... that caused TWotW to make it 'Great Sage'... he wanted girls or something something... gah my memory is so fuzzy about this scene... and TWotW interpreted that as Predator...

yeah, as most folks remember, he isn't packing anything 'down there' after getting his humanoid form from eating Shizue's body when she died back in S1. he's 'totally smooth' i think is what he said back then. but we also know he CAN make bodies as he wishes... but that one time he tried the 'lady form' in that same episode... it looked like a nude Shizue and he got REALLY embarrassed that it was dishonorable to her and insulting and 'poofed' it immediately. even if the movie isn't 100% total canon he CAN (there) make a new main-body that looks NOTHING like his normal everyday humanoid one. plus as alot of folks have mentioned his primary species IS sexless and just reproduces via division... a form of cloning.

but his mind isn't affected by hormones or structures or any biological 'changes'. since he is a slime and they don't have those. so he is essentially still a man. but he normally everyday has accepted his 'cute' effeminate Shizue-like body... but he DRESSES quite masculine and only when the girls stuff him into skirts etc. does he tolerate it for a short period. although that one pink Antebellum era US Southeast hoop-skirt dress WITH matching parasol came out of NOWHERE back then... which i still to this day don't get where that one came from...

perhaps it is a conscious CHOICE by the LN author FUSE to make Rimuru SO different from every other reincarnated/isekai male lead... and keep him from asserting a sexual interest in one girl or some girls or looking for a romantic attachment (so far shown in the anime)? other than the elf girls in the hostess bar... (twice) that's it... i've watched the whole franchise (so far) in English and Japanese and Rimuru hasn't even seemed to pause and reflect back on this fact in his life and puzzle out why he... HASN'T... at all?

i'm not quite sure what made you write this lenghy reply here since you're arguing over something completely different?

i was talking about how the other in-universe characters interpret Rimurus gender not what rimuru himself identifies as.

And fact is that;
- Rimuru is a sexless creature belonging to a species that doesn't have genders and presents himself/behaves/dresses like a nonbinary person
- he can change the appearance of his human form and make himself a more masculine body but doesnt.
- the Tempest citizens didn't know he was an otherworlder untilRimuru became demon lord, and even then; Rimuru never mentioned what gender he had as a human
- none of the Tempest citizens care about who/what Rimuru was in his past life and only treat him as who/what he is now

so yeah, except for the fellow otherworlders the other characters view Rimuru as genderless because he never gave them a reason to view him as anything else. (and yes, his outfits are mostly genderneutral)

Not to mention that when Rimuru anounced he wants to become demon lord and explained about his past life it also seemed like he initially identified as a human but started to slowly identify as a slime/monster over time, same logic can be applied to his gender which the tempest citizens canonically did as they clearly acted the part of viewing Rimuru as neither male nor female when Hinata didn't want Rimuru in the women's bath due to her viewing Rimuru as a man. Shion even said it out loud that she didn't think of him as either a man or a woman

as for Rimurus actual gender identity; it seems to be left open for interpretation if he identifies as a man or if his gender identity became nonbinary after reincarnation (with it still having been male in his previous life)

LesK • 2 days ago

i think it really is FUSE keeping him 'that way' both internally, externally, and socially/the viewpoints of his people/subjects... the author does seem to want to separate Rimuru from the rest of the 'harem, isekai, romcom, adventure, fantasy' gaggle of male protagonists.

ah! but remember King Dwargo? he always addressed Rimuru with male pronouns, mentioned him in public as a 'king' not a 'ruler' or a 'monarch' and that first time was when our happy lil slime was JUST a slime and hadn't 'shown off' his humanoid form to Dwargo... he even publicly appeared to the dwarven city during that ceremony as a slime. i would have to re-watch the big political episodes where the King, the Elven Empire's representative Eren's dad... and everybody sit down for that big 'summit' meeting.

i don't think i can agree about the gender neutrality of Rimuru's outfits. you have to take into perspective what everybody else is wearing too. the onii stick to very Japanese outfits, except for Shion's ahem... fetishistic 'office lady' outfit... so they're all gender specific as to those elements. the goblins after naming... well... the girls... got ecchi... and the guys got buff... but when their clothing and village and town become more advanced some of the goblinas wear dresses and skirts and bandeau tops, but most wear trousers. the guys usually do the barbarian leathers and furs and rough cloth trousers look. the dragon-newts... well Rimuru's team are all in classic 'ninja gear' along with Souei... but the girls wear classic 'kunoichi' fandom gear, even down to the fishnet pieces in ecchi styling choices. their compatriots in the dragon-newt 'village' in the swamps for some reason seem to favor Arabic and Middle Eastern robes, head wraps, and the like... not many female orcs shown so... that one is a puzzler... the orc guys seem to favor the same idea of outfits that the male goblins do... but among the humans (who aren't fighters/adventurers) the various looks are Middle Ages European... notice the noble ladies wearing VERY advanced dresses not unlike the Antebellum Era of the US Southeast. the lady elves in the hostess bar are of course almost not wearing lots of different styles of provocative outfits...

so Rimuru's 'lazy workday clothes' are a white tunic, trousers, and simple slip-on shoes. his first 'impressive' outfit is the black tunic, trousers, fur muffler... slightly like Kurobee's ... ahhh... i forget the name of it... what's his face in Bisque Doll wore his all the time he wasn't in his school uniform... samue? so yeah, Rimuru dresses exclusively masculine, from his everyday work/casual clothes to his very fancy and impressive regalia for Walpurgis.

Shion gives off the most wife vibe to Rimuru out of all of them.

I dont think the guard was confused on rimuru's appearance as you can see his eyes starts to wander into shion's chest...
